Add Texture With Layering Stencils

Hey everyone! Jen here today sharing two ways I added texture to this card featuring the August Layering Stencils of the Month. This gorgeous set includes four stencils. Two add the base of the leaf and two more add detail to each leaf. 

1. Place stencil one from the August Layering Stencils of the Month over a panel of Deluxe Smooth White Cardstock and blend on Key Lime Fizz Reactive Ink with a Large Ink Blending Brush. Add Green Apple Reactive Ink to random sections for a bit of shading. 

2. Leave stencil and place panel in a stamp positioner. Stamp with the Abstract Criss Cross Bold Prints using Key Lime Fizz Reactive Ink. You will need to press harder than normal and you may not get a perfect stamping when stamping through a stencil.

3. Place stencil number two and blend on Field Greens Core Ink.

4. Repeat steps 1-3 using stencil layers three and four with Pool Party and Blue Raspberry Reactive Inks.

5. Place stencil two over panel again. Using a Hero Tools Plastic Palette Knife add Olive Hero Wax over stencil sparingly in random areas. Once dry, repeat with stencil four.

6. Die cut the sentiment from It’s Our Anniversary Stamp and Cut XL from Deluxe Smooth White Cardstock three times and the shadow once. (This Stamp & Cut set is not currently available and was part of our recent Summer Stamp-Along Bundle.)

7. Blend Pool Party and a bit of Blue Raspberry Reactive Inks over top half of one die cut then add Key Lime Fizz along with some Green Apple Reactive Ink to the bottom half.

8. Stamp the sentiment with the Abstract Criss Cross Bold Prints using Pool Party and Key Lime Fizz Reactive Inks. Adhere die cuts together with Precision Glue.

9. Cut stenciled panel to 4" x 5 1/4" and adhere to an A2 card base. Add sentiment then finish with a few Translucent Hero Hues Enamel Dots in Greens and Aquas.

I originally added Olive Hero Wax entirely over both detail layers. I ended up with blobs of wax in spots. Adding small amounts gave me the texture I was looking for! I love that the stamping over the stencil and sentiment added a subtle texture and a bit more interest.
